In order to activate cross-border roaming service for my classmate’s phone, I recently took the time to visit Ma Tso Lung again (the last time was two years ago). Due to the impact of the border closure, compared to August 2019, the number of people going to Ma Tso Lung has significantly increased. The way to get to Ma Tso Lung was slightly different from the last time. This time, I took the 51B minibus from Sheung Shui, which took only about half an hour compared to the two-hour walk in 2019.
Extra - The Mountain Fire at Ma Tso Lung
When reviewing the satellite images of Ma Tso Lung, I noticed that in the Ma Tso Lung satellite image taken by the Hong Kong government in 2021, the entire hill is devoid of any vegetation cover.
However, looking at the satellite map taken by Google in November 2020, the entire hill is still green.
I believe the traces of the mountain fire above are related to this mountain fire on December 31, 2020. However, I have to marvel at the speed of vegetation recovery, as there were no traces of the mountain fire when I visited again more than half a year later.
